A tractor-trailer hauling oranges crashed on the Maine Turnpike early Wednesday morning.
The driver was traveling north on the turnpike, near mile marker 68, about 3:30 a.m. when they lost control and struck the median guardrail before partially rolling over, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The truck’s cab remained upright, while the trailer rolled onto its side, Moss said.
The truck was significantly damaged. The driver, who wasn’t identified, was uninjured.
Moss said that the tractor-trailer won’t be removed until 9 a.m. Thursday because the oranges have to be unloaded and because of the incoming freezing rain. During its removal, one lane will be closed so crews can do their work safely.
The tractor-trailer has been removed from the road and safely barrels have been installed near it.
The truck is owned by DW Carrier Inc. of Fresno, California.
The crash remains under investigation.
