Investigators have been unable to determine what started the Christmas Eve fire at a Machias motel.
The fire at the Bluebird Motel on Dublin Road broke out about 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 24, according to Maine State Police Lt. Aaron Turcotte.
The manager called 911 and alerted the guests, who got out safely. At least three people were treated for smoke inhalation.
Turcotte said Tuesday morning that investigators have labeled the cause “undetermined” because of the extent of the damage.
