BELFAST — Owen Howes and the Evening Call bring their laid-back rootsy rock to the Underground Lounge on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Guitarist-singer-songwriter Howes has been honing his craft since high school, penning introspective tunes emerging out of adversity and inspired by the rugged beauty of coastal Maine. He parlayed those skills into launching the Portland-based band Silver Heels in 2019 and later into the finals of 2023’s Maine Songwriters’ Association song contest. More recently he’s been beefing out his sound with the twangy Evening Call, consisting of guitarist Jack Carroll, bassist Johnny Burgess, and drummer Elliot Boyd.
Owen Howes and the Evening Call perform at the Underground Lounge on Jan. 9 in the basement of the Belfast Maskers Theatre at 17 Court Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10–20, cash only at the door.
The Underground Lounge offers shows on Thursday evenings twice a month along with beverages and homemade treats. Those interested in receiving email notices about upcoming shows can email [email protected].
