Kate Hudson had a special little helper by her side when she got ready for the 2025 Golden Globes — her 6-year-old daughter, Rani.
Hudson’s beautiful midnight blue Carolina Herrera gown was one of the most universally loved looks at the Sunday, January 5, ceremony, but in a red carpet chat with Entertainment Tonight, Hudson, 45, revealed that Rani was “picking apart everything” as she got ready for the glamorous event at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Hudson’s older sons weren’t remotely interested.
“We’re calling it Power Princess,” the singer and actress said of the stunning strapless dress, which was embellished with flowers and sequins. “That’s what my friends said! I was like, ‘Alright, I’ll lean in!’ My son [Ryder] is going to be 21 in two days, so I don’t know where he is. The other one, [Bingham], is 13 so he’s locked himself in his bedroom, so really it’s Rani who’s, you know, picking apart everything and making sure I wore the right necklace. She’s all over it! She’s the girl!” (Hudson shares Rani with fiancé Danny Fujikawa, previously welcoming Ryder with ex Chris Robinson and Bingham with ex Matt Bellamy.)
The necklace in question was a stunning sapphire and diamond piece by Bulgari which has been likened to Kate Winslet’s “heart of the ocean” jewel in Titanic — and coincidentally Winslet, 49, was on the Golden Globes red carpet at the same time as Hudson to admire it. “Isn’t it gorgeous?” said Hudson. “It’s ridiculous. I saw it and I was like, ‘I have to wear this!’”

Hudson attended the ceremony to present the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series award alongside Mindy Kaling to Hacks actress Jean Smart — and she also reconnected with her How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days costar Kathryn Hahn. But while many stars were partying up a storm at the glitzy annual event, Hudson revealed that she wouldn’t be drinking alcohol due to taking part in Dry January.
Hudson also spoke on the red carpet about her joy at now being an accomplished singer as well as a movie star. “It’s been a great surprise for me this year, because I didn’t realize how fulfilling it would be,” she said. “I had to jump into it and didn’t know what the outcome would be. It’s just been such a warm reception and now I feel like my creative life is really whole. It’s been really wonderful, I just love to sing, so I’m just gonna keep doing it!”
The star, whose debut studio album, Glorious, was released in 2024, added that music is “just my love language.”
