An Old Town police deputy chief was hired as the Lincoln police chief.
Lee Miller served for 18 years with Old Town police before he was sworn in as the Lincoln police chief, the department said on Monday.
Miller replaces Mark Leonard, who served as Lincoln’s police chief for about a year and a half from 2023 until early January. The town started the process of finding a new chief in late August.
Lincoln Town Council unanimously approved hiring Miller at a Dec. 9 meeting. He has a starting salary of $105,000, with a raise to $115,000 after six months, councilors said during the meeting.
Lincoln police have 13 full-time officers and two part-time officers.
Losing Miller is bittersweet because of the way he influenced Old Town police the years, especially with his leadership, the Old Town department said on Facebook.
