A Damariscotta man was killed early Saturday morning when his car crashed into a tree in New Gloucester.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Robinson, 20, died in the collision.
His passenger, Cody Huff, 20, of Portland, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened at about 12:10 AM on Dougherty Road. The sheriff’s office said Robinson lost control of his 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EUV, crossed the center line, and went off the left side of the road and through a fence before hitting the tree.
According to police, speed and alcohol appeared to be a factor.
