Orono officials and the FBI were investigating a Snapchat post made on Friday that reportedly threatened violence against the high school.
According to Orono School Resource Officer Dan Patterson on Sunday, “the issue has been resolved.” He said he couldn’t release more information because juveniles were involved.
FBI officials weren’t immediately available for comment.
Earlier this weekend, RSU 26 school officials sent an email out to the school community explaining what happened, according to WABI-TV.
The threat came in after school on Friday. School staff discovered that the Snapchat post had been removed, according to the email.
School officials later heard from Orono police that the FBI had tracked down the original post and pinpointed that it had originated in the community — and also that it matched what had been initially reported to school officials.
