L.L. Bean has come up with a creative solution for shoppers in Freeport while the company’s flagship store remains under construction.
On Wednesday, Camp L.L. Bean, a massive tent operating as a full store, opened outside the main building.
With 28,000 square feet of space, the massive tent is the temporary home for apparel and outerwear.
The hunting and fishing store is still open 24/7 and is also housing footwear for the time being.
Some of the following features will be inside the rebooted flagship:
— Building a new first floor entrance and grand staircase
— Re-envisioning the iconic trout pond with multiple tiers, more viewpoints and enhanced accessibility for better fish watching
— Overhauling the stream tank with twice as much swimming space for schools of fish and two viewing bubbles to accommodate fish fans of all ages
— Launching an in-store eatery featuring a menu full of favorites in a bright, airy space with seating for everyone
— Creating an all-new Custom Shop with expanded monogramming and engraving personalization options
— Expanding Discovery Park to bring more green space to campus and enhance their outdoor programming
There is no word yet on when the flagship store will reopen. Renovations to the flagship store began in 2023.
