
Saturday afternoon will bring rain to most of Maine before temperatures take a nosedive at the beginning of the week.
Saturday will bring seasonal temperatures with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s across most of the state, before giving way to scattered showers in the afternoon.
Wind gusts will likely pick up on Saturday evening, according to National Weather Service forecasters, with gusts reaching up to 25 miles per hour. Around a quarter of an inch of rainfall is expected overnight Saturday.
Sunday is likely to bring messier weather, with a chance for mixed rain and snow throughout the day before overnight temperatures drop. The state will likely see patchy rainfall throughout the morning, with snowfall moving in through the evening.
Southern and western Maine can expect around 2 to 4 inches of snowfall overnight Sunday, while Bangor and the Penobscot Valley area will likely get anywhere from 4 to 6 inches of snow Sunday evening. Northeastern Maine is expected to receive around an inch or two of snowfall throughout the day Sunday.
Air temperatures will cool Sunday evening, with overnight low temperatures dipping into the low teens and single digits across much of Maine. Daytime temperatures won’t bring much warmth, with highs predicted to be in the mid to high teens on Monday, before overnight lows fall to sub-zero temperatures.
Skies should remain clear through Monday, but wind gusts may reach up to 30 miles per hour in some areas, dropping the wind chill factor to to the negative teens.
