Police believe the man who allegedly robbed a convenience store at knifepoint last week returned and robbed it again, shortly after robbing another convenience store in the area.
Just after 8 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the Big Apple convenience store at 146 State St. after an employee called 911 to report a robbery, Bangor Police Sgt. Jason McAmbley said in a news release.
The employee told police they thought it was the same person they had seen in news reports from the Broadway Convenience robbery on Jan. 13. The suspect allegedly brandished a knife and demanded money, took the money and left on foot, McAmbley said.
About 30 minutes later, police responded to a panic alarm at Broadway Convenience at Broadway and Griffin streets.
When police arrived, the employee at the store said they had been robbed again by the same person who robbed the business on Jan. 13. They said the suspect fled on foot.
Their description of the suspect was the same as the one given by the Big Apple employee, McAmbley said.
Police described the suspect as a white man, between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot-2, weighing 250 to 300 pounds, wearing a black mask, a gray North Face sweatshirt possibly with a black rain jacket underneath, black pants, brown work boots, gray gloves with possible texture on the palms.
