The pardoning of the Jan. 6 rioters by President Donald Trump disrespects the law enforcement officers and agencies charged with protecting our elected officials, Constitution and public safety. It is unconscionable that people who were convicted, and some who even admitted their guilt of assaulting police officers, do not have to serve their full sentence.
The presidential oath to uphold our Constitution should imply supporting the civil servants who are charged with enforcing our Constitution. I urge the Senate and House to remain diligent in opposing executive orders and nominees that threaten our public safety and Constitution.
