A decades-old ordinance still outlaws displays of homosexuality in Hampden. The ordinance dates back 28 years to when Maine relinquished management of adult entertainment zoning to local governments.
Hampden had Maine’s hottest housing market in 2024. It’s the second time the Bangor suburb has topped a list compiled by a southern Maine agency that analyzes sales.
You can buy an abandoned Victorian home in rural Maine for $52,000. If someone were to sink $100,000 into it, the listing agent said, it could be brought back to life as a full-time residence, or maybe something else.
