Snow squalls are expected to hit the Bangor area on Tuesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service forecasts that squalls will roll through a vast stretch of Maine from Bangor to Calais to Fort Kent and Allagash.
Up to an inch of snow is expected to rapidly accumulate as the squalls move through. That combined with high winds will make for “extremely dangerous driving conditions,” the weather service warned, saying that Mainers should be prepared for whiteouts with “near zero visibility.”
