The owner of a fishing boat that sank in Harpswell during last year’s coastal storms has been fined $750.
The Jacob Pike sat at the bottom of the New Meadows River in Harpswell for months after it sank in January 2024, leaking oil into the water.
The harbormaster said the owner recently pleaded guilty to failure to obey order of harbormaster and was issued a $750 fine.
The Coast Guard began the process of pulling the ship out of the water in August.
The estimated cost of removal was more than $300,000, which the Coast Guard said the government would try to recoup from the owner.
