Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco can’t wait for their future together as a married couple and are already planning to blend both their lives and religions.
In a Friday, February 14, profile for Interview magazine, they were asked whether they plan to convert upon their nuptials.
“I don’t think I’ll be doing that,” Gomez, 32, stated. “Not that it’s bad.”
Blanco, 36, is Jewish, while Gomez identifies as Christian. After the Interview reporter noted that the Golden Globe nominee is “the most famous shiksa in the world” — a shiksa is a Yiddish term for a non-Jewish woman — Blanco revealed that he was aware of that title.

“I know,” he said, also denying plans to convert. “We want our kids to have both of our values, both of our morals and hopefully when we mix them up in a pot they’ll [turn out good].”
According to Blanco, “of course” he and Gomez, who got engaged in 2024, plan to incorporate the best of both religions, such as doing the hora dance at their wedding and celebrating the holiday of Hanukkah.
Gomez, meanwhile, does not practice organized religion.
“I’m very, very spiritual,” she previously told Vogue in March 2021. “I believe in God, but I’m not religious. I’ve been a Christian for a while now. I don’t talk about it too much — I want to, but it’s gotten a bad rep.”

he added at the time, “I just want to make it clear that I love being able to have my faith, and believe in what I believe in, and that truly is what gets me through.”
Gomez further pointed to her faith for helping her navigate multiple health scares, including battles with lupus and bipolar disorder.
“You don’t necessarily even need to believe to know that there’s something above you that’s bigger than you,” Gomez explained to Vogue. “You’re throwing your hands up, going, ‘I actually have no idea what is next.’”

Gomez and Blanco, a record producer, have been together since 2023 after several years of collaborating on music. They are next teaming up for their first joint album, I Said I Love You First, which drops next month.
“It sort of fell into place with a lot of hard work and love,” Gomez told Interview of the new LP. “Normally I’m on this little chair [when I write] and I have a thousand blankets on me. I loved it. It felt very easy.”
Blanco, meanwhile, teased that his fiancée is “so good” on the record.
“I think No. 1, she has a top-three tone of voice. Nobody’s ever going to hear a song of hers and be like, ‘Oh, I wonder if that’s Selena Gomez,’” he said. “And every time she’s singing, I feel it so deep. Whether she wrote the song or not, it doesn’t matter. She could sing the phone book and convince me that it’s a depressing song. The thing that Selena does that not a lot of artists do is she’s never afraid to tell the truth, even if it might not be the most popular thing.”
In addition to making music together, Blanco has never been happier than he is with Gomez.
“I remember before I was with her, I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to stop everything I’m doing and just focus all my energy on being a grownup and being with the right person.’ Now I worship the ground she walks on,” he gushed. “I feel like she’s the same way to me. There’s no ego between us. She’s praying for me to win and I’m praying for her to win. And I wake up in the morning — I know she does the same thing — and I’m like, ‘How can I make her life better?’ Holding her isn’t close enough. I want to be inside of her whole body. I just feel a thing for her that I can’t even explain. I’m so sappy. … I just smile all day.”
