Chris Hemsworth has ruined his chances of enduring close friendship with singer Billie Eilish.
Appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, March 26, Hemsworth, 41, shared the hilarious reason why he thinks he “will never be friends” with Eilish, 23.
“I got a photograph with Billie Eilish at the Oscars,” Hemsworth told host Colbert. “I remember thinking ‘Ah, don’t do it, don’t do it.’”
While he admitted he was initially hesitant to bother Eilish at the event with the selfie request, the Thor star explained he and wife Elsa Pataky went through with the photograph in an attempt to impress their children. (Hemsworth shares daughter India, 12, and twin sons, Sasha and Tristan, 11, with Pataky.)

“I was like ‘No, my kids are going to love this,’” he said. “The moment I took it, I was like ‘I went from work colleague to now like a fan.’”
Hemsworth then joked, “We will never be friends, never be best friends.”
The Home and Away alum said that while he and Eilish had never collaborated on a project in the past, they do “bump shoulders” in the industry.
The photo in question featured Eilish smiling broadly while being flanked by Hemsworth and Pataky at the prestigious event.

While the Aussie actor may have blown his friendship with Eilish before it began thanks to the selfie, Hemsworth has been open about some of his A-lister pals in the past.
He is particularly close with Matt Damon, with Hemsworth and Pataky often vacationing with Damon and his wife Luciano Barroso.
“We became friends around the time I started to work, and I’ve really benefited from watching how he handles himself,” Hemsworth said of Damon, while speaking to GQ in 2020. “Matt’s just a normal guy who has the movie-star thing figured out.”

Pataky is also a big fan of Damon and Barroso, and gushed about them in a separate interview a year earlier.
“Chris has been a big fan of Matt Damon, me too, and then when I met his wife, I’m even more of a fan of his wife,” Pataky told People in 2019.
“They are such amazing people. We have three kids, they have four kids, so we ended up making the same plans because everything we do with our kids, so it’s easier to do things with people that understand you,” she added.
