Pep Guardiola spoke to the media on Friday ahead of Manchester City’s next outing.
Man City will take on West Ham this coming Sunday at 2 pm UK time at the London Stadium in a Premier League clash.
Ahead of the game, Pep discussed a number of topics in his presser, including injury news. Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker have already been ruled out for the remainder of 2021/22, leaving City very light at the back.
Aymeric Laporte then picked up an issue vs Wolves in midweek and, when speaking on Friday about the Frenchman, Guardiola could not say if the defender would be fit in time to face West Ham:
“They are in treatment, two days. We will see tomorrow, which players can play on Sunday. Until the day of the game we will not be able to decide,” Guardiola said.
“I said many times we have to handle these absenses. If it was many months a big problem but one or two games… We saw against Wolves, we get through.”
West Ham vs Manchester City
Manchester City head into the game on a great run of form with their latest win a 5-1 hammering of Wolves on Wednesday evening.
Said win means Manchester City boast both the best attack and vest defence in the Premier League right now, giving them seven better goal difference than their title rivals, Liverpool.
And as Liverpool are not in league action until Tuesday next week, the Sky Blues can put even more distance between themselves and the Reds by beating West Ham.
The Hammers are still aiming to secure a Europa League spot so will likely be at full strength this weekend. However, Pep and co. will take some comfort in the fact that they have not beaten City in 90 minutes since 2015.
