An explanation for the absence of Kai Havertz from Chelsea’s matchday squad to face Liverpool on Saturday has been forthcoming online.
Thomas Tuchel’s troops, of course, are set to return to action in short order.
Amid hopes of salvaging what has proven an otherwise disappointing campaign to date, the Blues have made the trip to Wembley, eyeing FA Cup final revenge up against a Liverpool outfit who put them to the sword in the League Cup showpiece less than three months ago.
It therefore came as a major surprise when, upon Chelsea’s matchday squad at Wembley being unveiled a short time ago, one of the club’s star performers was nowhere to be seen.
The player in question? Kai Havertz.

As alluded to above, though, an explanation for as much has since been forthcoming online.
As per the reliable Simon Johnson of The Athletic, Havertz, spotted in attendance at Saturday’s clash, has been ruled out of the action owing to a hamstring injury, presumably picked up in training during the week.
