Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has been speaking about how his side can close the gap on Liverpool.
Tuchel’s comments come after the 2022 FA Cup final which saw Chelsea once again bested by Liverpool.
Like the League Cup final earlier this year, the two sides could not be separated in 90 minutes nor extra time.
As a result, penalties were required but, unlike in February, the penalties were not the best, with Sadio Mane, Cesar Azpilicueta and Mason Mount all seeing shots saved to hand Chelsea another final loss.
Said defeat means that Chelsea have not won any meaningful trophies this term, whilst Liverpool are still able to clinch a historic quadruple, with some form of treble now also seemingly very likely.
Following the game, Thomas Tuchel has been speaking about the difference between his side and Liverpool and was keen to point out that the Reds will now be able to put in a similarly impressive showing in just a few days’ time, hinting that Chelsea could not and this is where the gap between the two teams comes into play:
“The difference for me is that they can go again on Wednesday, and then Saturday,” Tuchel said.
“This is where the gap comes from, they can produce these performances more often. They have built this team for longer. The sanctions don’t help.”
