Jesse Marsch spoke to the media on Friday ahead of Leeds United’s final outing of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.
Leeds will face off with Brentford at 4 pm UK time on Sunday at the same time the remaining 18 Premier League sides are in action.
Marsch discussed a number of topics ahead of the game, including team news, confirming Luke Ayling has had successful surgery, Tyler Roberts should be back in training on Friday and that Patrick Bamford could still be in with a chance of featuring vs Brentford:
“Ayling has successful surgery yesterday. Hopeful it’s not too long – between two and four months. It’s on a knee issue that he needs to sort out,” Marsch said.
“Roberts first day back in training today. Ready for start of next year.
“Bamford has looked really good this week. Not made a decision on Sunday yet. Had a day off today, hopefully can make a decision in next couple of days about Sunday.”
Brentford vs Leeds United
Leeds United head into the game with a very simple task, better Burnley’s result.
The Peacocks currently occupy the final relegation place, sitting on 35 points and only behind Burnley, who are 17th, due to their much worse goal difference.
As a result, Leeds United must better whatever Burnley’s result is vs Newcastle United or they will be relegated to the Championship. That may be easier said than done though given Leeds have failed to win their last five and have the second worst defence in the division.
As for Brentford, they have nothing left to play for this term other than getting into the top half of the Premier League.
