Champions League-chasing Tottenham could be set to add veteran quality to their ranks this summer after Spurs have been linked with growing interest in Inter Milan’s Croatian star Ivan Perišić.

According to ESPN’s James Olley, Tottenham has begun exploring the possibility of making a move for the 33-year-old versatile winger this summer, with Perišić available on a free transfer after running his deal down at the San Siro.
Though Inter is still in talks with the Croatian international in the hopes of keeping him in Lombardy, it is thought that though Juventus is his preferred destination, Tottenham has enough reason to be optimistic about potentially hijacking any move to Turin.
The potential signing would certainly please Spurs boss Antonio Conte, who had a successful relationship with Perišić during his spell at Inter where they lifted the Serie A title last season before Conte swapped Italy for England after Nuno Espírito Santo’s reign came to an end early in the current 2021-22 Premier League season.
Any deal for Perišić would go a long way in helping Tottenham secure a regular place in the top four despite his advancing years, despite the existence of first-choice left-back Sergio Reguilón. His versatility on the tactics board would present some interesting options for Conte, including having a trusted former player as an attacking full-back but also adding depth in a forward line that is frustratingly thin on reliable options past the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, and Dejan Kulusevski.
It was reported that Perišić would command a wage packet of somewhere in the region of £100,000-per-week, which would hardly deter Tottenham should they view a move as value for money overall, but competing with a giant like Juventus could potentially be a bridge too far for the north London outfit.
