Trent Alexander-Arnold has offered up an assessment of Liverpool’s 2021/22 campaign ahead of their final Premier League match.
The Reds are set to face off with Wolves on Sunday afternoon, kicking off at 4 pm UK time with the remaining 18 clubs.
Liverpool must win the game to stand any chance of pipping Manchester City to the Premier League title.
The Sky Blues are one point ahead of Liverpool on the final day, meaning a win over Aston Villa would hand Pep Guardiola a 4th English title.
Ahead of the game, Alexander-Arnold expressed his disappointment at not having the title race in their hands. However, on the whole, the full-back still believes Liverpool have had an outstanding season.
Asked for his emotions ahead of the finale, the No.66 told Liverpoolfc.com: “Excited, yet again. That’s all we can be, to be honest.
“It’s not in our hands, that’s the only real shame about the day, but we’re more than happy to be in amongst it. To take it down to the very last day was something special from us.
“We’ve dug in, all the competitions we’ve had, coinciding with our games, the rescheduled fixtures, the three games a week for however long. It’s kind of unheard of, this kind of stuff. To have that consistency over the course of the season has been outstanding.
“I think us lads can be proud of ourselves, it has been an outstanding season. And whether we do get the trophy on Sunday or not, it’s a huge achievement to even go head-to-head with that City team, especially with already having two trophies in the bag and hopefully one more the week after.”
