Mikel Arteta has provided an insight into Arsenal’s plans for the 2022 summer transfer window.
Arsenal, regardless of them likely missing out on a top-four berth and, in turn, Champions League football, have had a very good 2021/22.
The Gunners can finish no lower than 5th, which is a great improvement on their 8th-place finishes in the previous two campaigns.
But this season did show that Arsenal are by no means the finished article and do lack some experience.
Mikel Arteta is clearly well aware of this though as he suggested recently that the Gunners will be targeting more experienced players going forward:
“Now we have cleared the deck. We have to start to add the top-quality pieces that they are not necessarily at 18, 19 or 20-years-old,” Arteta said. “We will do what it takes to get better in every department.
“Not only the age group but in terms of the quality, in terms of the leadership, in terms of the goal threat of this team, in terms of the physicality of the team that we need to improve as well so there are a lot of areas.”

Where do Arsenal need to improve?
The obvious area in which Arsenal will have to improve this summer is centre-forward, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah due to leave for free in June.
Elsewhere, central midfield probably needs some more experience, whilst a young right-back option to back up Takehiro Tomiyasu is also needed.
