Bruno Fernandes has offered up his assessment of Manchester United’s 2021/22 campaign.
Manchester United’s last game of the season would see them lose 1-0 away to Crystal Palace.
Despite this, Manchester United still secured a Europa League place thanks to Brighton beating West Ham.
In truth, though, the Red Devils have very little to celebrate this season. United were expected to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea this campaign after spending big and bringing in Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane in the 2021 summer window.
However, Manchester United instead managed to garner their lowest points total in the history of the Premier League.
They also performed poorly in cup competitions. United lost to Championship outfit Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, crashed out of the League Cup in the 3rd round and lost to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16.
On the whole, it was a season of major failure with Erik ten Hag now the latest unlucky soul tasked with trying to get something out of a side that has been impacted by years of mismanagement at all levels of the club.
Now, on Monday, Bruno Fernandes has had this to say about United’s 2021/22:
“Season over and none of our goals was accomplished. I know that individually and collectively it was not at the level that we should be,” Fernandes wrote.
