Jurgen Klopp vs Carlo Ancelotti
Well, though close, it is Carlo Ancelotti who emerges victories when looking at the head-to-head record of the two bosses.
Klopp and Ancelotti have faced off 10 times in competitive matches. The first being in April 2014, with the most recent February 2021.
The first two meetings between the pair came when Ancelotti was Real Madrid boss – for the first time – and Klopp was still with Borussia Dortmund.
Madrid saw off BVB by three goals to nil in the first of two Champions League quarter-final ties, with the German outfit then winning the reverse leg 2-0.
Klopp then moved to Liverpool and Ancelotti found his way to Napoli. Whilst in charge of Napoli, the Italian beat Liverpool twice, drew with them once and lost to them once back in December of 2018.
The next time the two greats would clash came when Ancelotti took the Everton job in late 2019.
Given Everton’s horrid record against Liverpool, it was expected that Klopp would dominate Ancelotti. However, that did not transpire. Liverpool won the first meeting 1-0 before drawing twice in a row and then suffering a 2-0 defeat in February of last year. That was Everton’s first win over their city rivals since all the way back in 2011.
That was also the last meeting between Klopp and Ancelotti, with the Italian coming out on top in the head-to-head standings despite, for the most part, being in charge of worst sides. Klopp has won three games compared to Ancelotti’s four, with the remaining three matches ending as draws.
Who has won more trophies?
Carlo Ancelotti bests Klopp when it comes to trophies won.
Ancelotti has won silverware with six clubs in all five of the top leagues, giving him a grand total of 22 trophies as a manager.
The clubs Ancelotti won silverware with are Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Klopp, meanwhile, has enjoyed success with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, but only won 11 trophies.
