Leeds United are ready to reignite their pursuit of Huddersfield Town star Lewis O’Brien, according to reports.
For those not aware, highly-regarded midfielder O’Brien was hotly tipped for an Elland Road switch throughout last summer’s transfer window.
This came with Marcelo Bielsa understood to be a keen admirer of the 23-year-old’s talents, and Leeds having long been sorely lacking in depth in the middle of the park.
In the end, a deal, evidently, could not be found, as the powers that be at Huddersfield were urged not to cave amid a concerted push on the part of their Yorkshire rivals.
As per a report from The Sun, however, the latest signals stemming from Elland Road point towards Leeds readying a renewed offer for O’Brien.
New Whites boss Jesse Marsch has too been left impressed by the Englishman’s form at Kirklees Stadium, with a £10 million bid, in turn, said to be in the pipeline.
One potential issue for Leeds, however, comes in the form of Huddersfield’s ongoing push for a return to the Premier League.
The Terriers are actually locked in action with Nottingham Forest at present, in the knowledge that a victory would see them guaranteed of a spot in England’s top-flight for the 2022/23 campaign.
And, should Carlos Corberan’s troops go on to emerge triumphant, then O’Brien is in line for a new contract, featuring a considerably higher release clause.
