Clement Lenglet could be set to ply his trade in the Premier League next season with as many as four English clubs said to have an interest in the French defender.
Lenglet, now 26, joined Barcelona in 2018 for a fee just over £30m. The young centre-back had impressed with Sevilla and he was expected to grow into a potential replacement for Gerrard Pique in Catalonia.
However, due to a combination of injury issues, bad form and the poor running of FC Barcelona, that has not really happened for Lenglet despite his clear talent which was on display with Sevilla.
Now, after making just eight starts in La Liga across 2021/22, plus the fact Andreas Christensen will be at the Camp Nou next term, Lenglet looks to be calling time on his stint with Barca.
According to reports stemming from Spain, Clement Lenglet is almost certain to leave Barcelona this summer. The defender is open to departing on an initial loan as he looks to fight for first-team football, says Sport.
The Premier League could be his destination as the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Everton are all eyeing him, but no agreement has been made with any team.
Should Arsenal sign Lenglet?
The answer to that question right now is probably not. However, that could change should William Saliba decide to remain with Marseille on a permanent basis.
Arsenal are back in Europe next season, meaning they will need to add one centre-back to the trio of Ben White, Gabriel and Rob Holding. And whilst Saliba is expected to be the 4th, reports of late do suggest he wants to remain with Marseille, who he excelled on loan with this past season.
