Brighton & Hove Albion are on on the verge of closing a deal for the club’s first signing of the summer, according to reports.
The player set to take his talents to England’s south coast? Julio Enciso.
Many of a Seagulls persuasion will no doubt already be familiar with the name of gifted attacking midfielder Enciso. This comes after the 18-year-old saw a January move to the Amex Stadium collapse at the last minute owing to a failure to agree personal terms.
This time round, though, Brighton look set to land their man.
As per a report from Andy Naylor of The Athletic, the transfer team at the seaside outfit have struck an agreement with their counterparts at Paraguayan giants Libertad, to bring Enciso to England over the coming weeks.
The deal, it is understood, will set the Seagulls back a fee in the region of £9.5 million, including bonuses.
Enciso, for his part, is widely regarded as one of the finest talents to have emerged from his home country of Paraguay for some time.
Such regard is reflected in the fact that the midfielder, despite his tender years, has already established himself as a fully fledged senior international, en route to six caps.
On the club front, meanwhile, Enciso’s stellar exploits in the final third have culminated in 14 direct goal contributions across 14 league appearances to this point in the Primera Division Apertura campaign.
Julio Enciso is close to signing for Brighton in a deal believed to be worth around £9.5 million, including add-ons.
