Polygon, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, has announced the hiring of the former director of human resources and director of employee experience at Airbnb, Bhumika Srivastava. Srivastava will work with Polygon in managing the company’s global workforce.
Polygon hires former HR Director at Airbnb
Srivastava has served as a HR director at Airbnb over the past five years. She comes with an extensive portfolio that equips her with the ability to consolidate Polygon’s strategy and fulfill the cultural ambitions of the firm’s 500-employee global workforce.
Srivastava has extensive experience in the Web2 sector, as she has previously worked with companies like Yahoo, Adobe, Tesco PLC, and Snapdeal. The appointment comes as Polygon seeks to grow by hiring former executives in the Web 2 sector.
Your capital is at risk.
In January, Polygon hired the former head of gaming at YouTube, Ryan Wyatt, as the CEO of Polygon Studios. It also hired Tyler Sellhorn as the head of remote to focus on the company’s decentralized working structure.
Srivastava’s plans for Polygon
Srivastava commented on her new appointment in an interview with Cointelegraph, talking about leadership requirements and the notable growth Polygon had witnessed over the past year. She noted that her goal was to create a successful decentralized ecosystem with high-performance sustainability.
One of the changes she has said she will introduce is “creating an employee experience for distributed teams. She will also foster engagement and empower the teams to make the right decisions and engage in an agile manner while maintaining a structured process.
“I think short-term results and motivation [are] definitely required, especially in a startup. We have a line of sight for about two to three months. How do you create clarity on the priority-setting for your employees? You pay for their performance – rewarding them in the short term is going to be critical,” she added.
She also admitted that she had little experience in Web3 sectors such as the metaverse. However, she was excited to learn new things. She also said that while Polygon was pursuing growth, it was also committed to developing a sustainable Web3 platform.
In terms of challenges coming with her new job, she noted, “I would say in terms of the biggest challenge, […] how do we create an ecosystem where we are able to employ people, keeping in mind the legality and regulations of a particular country.”
