Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has hinted that he could seek a new challenge, joining hitman Robert Lewandowski in causing alarm over his future in Bavaria.
Kimmich has spent the last seven years with Bayern, after joining from RB Leipzig, and has racked up 299 appearances for the German giants, winning the Bundesliga title every season and also picking up a Champions League trophy during that time.
However, it seems as though the midfielder may well not be staying much longer, however, despite being under contract until 2025. Asked about his future, the German suggested that he could be keen to move to pastures new in the future.
‘It would be an interesting challenge’, he revealed. ‘I don’t know what will happen in a few years, we’ll see. I have a lot of fun here, but somewhere in my head there is always this professional and personal challenge of discovering new horizons one day.’
Lewa wants out
Kimmich is not alone in wanting out, though teammate Robert Lewandowski has been far more vocal about his unhappiness at the Allianz Arena.
The Polish forward has repeatedly spoken of his desire to depart this summer, but since he is under contract until 2023, it is unclear just whether he will be able to do so amid interest from Barcelona.
Robert Lewandowski wants to join Barcelona, no way for other clubs as of today. He knows it’s still not easy to reach an agreement with Bayern – but he’s only waiting for FCB. 🚨🇵🇱 #FCB

Meanwhile, Barcelona have financial troubles of their own, raising further questions as to whether they can afford such an outlay, despite their wish to do so.
