England national team boss Gareth Southgate has, on Monday, provided an update on the wellbeing of youngster Phil Foden.
Gifted attacker Foden has, of course, failed to feature for the Three Lions to this point in the June international break.
After returning a positive test for Covid-19, the Manchester City prodigy was forced to sit out England’s Nations League meetings with all of Hungary, Germany and Italy.
And, in truth, Foden’s influence has been sorely missed, with England’s lack of cutting edge in the final third having cost them dear en route to just a solitary goal scored in Group C to date.

Ahead of a return meeting with Hungary on Tuesday, fans of the Three Lions will therefore no doubt be hopeful of Foden recovering in time to play at least some part at Wembley.
This comes with a defeat in 24 hours’ time likely to kill off any remaining hope of England securing table-topping status in Group C.
Speaking to the media on Monday evening, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his sidelined starlet’s wellbeing was put to Gareth Southgate.
And the tactician went on to reveal that a late call will need to be made when it comes to Foden’s participation, albeit with the Man City star having been well enough to return to training over the weekend.
Southgate will make a late call on Phil Foden who has missed the last three games after testing positive for COVID-19: “We’ve got to chat with our medical team. He’s back in training but there’s a reality of how much conditioning he’s had over the last three weeks.” #MCFC #ENG
