Inter Milan have entered the race to sign Udinese fullback and rumoured Tottenham target Destiny Udogie this summer as they look to strengthen following the departure of Ivan Perisic, who joined Spurs.
The San Siro side have already grabbed full-back Robin Gosens in January from Atalanta to fill the void, but are looking to add another option to play on the left-side of defence.
Udogie made his name at home-town club Hellas Verona, and has already been subjected to strong interest from Premier League side Everton and Ligue 1 outfit Monaco in his fledgling career.
In his maiden season with Udinese, he played 35 times, grabbing five goals and three assists to help the northern Italy side into midtable. Now, as per Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio, this form has seen Inter register a strong interest in the Italian.
‘The meeting between Destiny Udogie’s entourage and the Nerazzurri management has begun at the Inter headquarters’, he revealed on social media.
Udogie prefers England?
However, Tottenham will not have lost hope just yet. Speaking exclusively to 101 earlier in the season, Udogie revealed that he would be keen to head to England in the future.
‘I would like to head out [of Italy], maybe England. But for now, I’m here to help Udinese and I will try to do my best for the team’, he claimed.
Still only 19 years old, and with Ryan Sessengnon already competing for a left wing-back berth with new signing Ivan Perisic in north London, it is not clear just where Udogie fits in for Antonio Conte.
However, he is certainly an exciting prospect.
