Arsenal are awaiting a response from Ajax over their latest bid for Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez, with the player himself keen on a Premier League move this summer.
The Gunners submitted a second bid for the versatile 24-year-old, who filled in at centre-back, left-back and defensive midfield last term, with the fee thought to be in the region of 40m euros, with the potential for add-ons.

And, as per Goal.com, Ajax are yet to respond to the latest offer, currently mulling it over as they look to make one defensive sale between Martinez and Jurrien Timber this summer.
The player himself is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League. Manchester United are also keen on Martinez but are currently working on a deal for Frenkie de Jong and are then expected to turn their attentions to Martinez’s fellow Ajax man Antony.
This could leave Arsenal as the most attractive prospect left on the table for both the club and the player, and while they could yet turn the Gunners’ second bid down, a compromise could be reached in the coming days.
