Roma legend Francesco Totti has spoken out on Cristiano Ronaldo potentially joining the Serie A side.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Manchester United for a second time last summer, leaving Serie A giants, Juventus.
The Portuguese has since endured a mixed stint in Manchester. The legendary hitman scored 18 in 30 league ties last term and netted six in the Champions League.
However, whilst Ronaldo continued to shine at aged 37, Manchester United as a club experienced one of the worst seasons in their storied history.
The Red Devils finished 6th in the Premier League, were knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side Middlesbrough and performed poorly in the Champions League yet again.
And whilst not all the blame can be put on Ronaldo, there are many that believe that the rest of the team do suffer because of CR7’s presence.
Now, with the season just under one month away, Ronaldo is being tipped for a Manchester United exit.
The forward still has one year left on his current deal, but he is believed to be pushing for a departure.
As per reports, Ronaldo is eyeing an exit because he is determined to carry on playing in the Champions League as he nears the end of his career, and United’s failure to secure a top-four finish last season has convinced him he needs to find a club where he can compete for top honours again.
One of the sides he has been linked with is Serie A outfit Roma. However, a move there does seem unlikely for several reasons.
Firstly, Roma are not in the Champions League this season and, when discussing Ronaldo to Roma recently, Francesco Totti had this to say:
“To be honest, I never believed in Ronaldo to Roma, because I know the reality of the current situation,” he said.
