Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar have done a phenomenal job guiding Arsenal through the transfer window this summer as the Gunners remain motivated to climb back into the Champions League under the Spaniard, and the business conducted thus far in north London reflects their commitment to progress at the Emirates.
Deals for Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fábio Vieira, Marquinhos, and Matt Turner have proved that the club once again is unafraid to spend – and keep spending – before the window closes.
But there are expected to be a large number of outgoings as well, with one of them coming in the vein of Portuguese youth international Nuno Tavares, and according to continued reports from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Tavares is nearing a loan move to Serie A cult favorite Atalanta Bergamo.
Arsenal will make final decision on Nuno Tavares deal next week. There are talks ongoing with Atalanta over loan move, but key point is the ‘buy option’ clause – whether it will be included or not. 🇵🇹 #AFC
Nuno, keen on the move. Talks will continue in the next days.

Talks persist between Arsenal and Atalanta, but the current snag in negotiations comes down to whether or not an option to buy clause will be inserted into the deal before terms could be finalized.
With Tavares keen on the move, no doubt down to Atalanta’s prodigious use of wing-backs in their style of play under popular manager Gian Piero Gasperini, Arsenal could certainly capitalize on getting valuable first-team minutes for the Portuguese which are sure to be far harder to find in north London in the 2022-23 Premier League season.
Arsenal could be reluctant to include such a clause in a loan deal, however, with Tavares constituting one of only three left-backs in the senior setup under Arteta, and with questions regularly popping up regarding the fitness – and potentially the future – of Scottish international Kieran Tierney, the club could well look to keep hold of Tavares for the future.
