Like a true leading lady, Margot Robbie slays on screen and off. From flowing gowns and silver tones to structured silhouettes and pops of color, the award-winning actress is a force to be reckoned with on the red carpet.
A large part of the Australia native’s fabulous fashion is due to her masterful stylist Kate Young, who also dresses Sophie Turner and Dakota Johnson. Young describes Robbie’s style as “cool girl” and “very easy.” The two, who have been working together for years, make a pretty great pair.
“She’s gorgeous and fun and inspiring,” the stylist told Us Weekly in 2019. “She loves clothes and is very engaged with the process, which makes her my ideal kind of client.”
Every new movie premiere brings the chance to experiment with her look. From her white Armani Privé gown at The Wolf of Wall Street premiere in 2013 to her gold Versace number at the 2018 I, Tonya red carpet, Robbie is constantly making a style statement.
For the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood press tour circa 2019, Young wanted to pull out all the stops.
“I’m so happy with the palette from the European press tour for Once Upon a Time. I love the desert sunset colors, it was exciting and felt different and unexpected to me,” Young explained to Us at the time, noting that one of her favorite looks was the button up Jacquemus frock that Robbie wore to the opening in Berlin.
Another standout: The custom Chanel Haute Couture design she wore to the Los Angeles premiere.
The look, which took more than 300 hours to create, is from Virginie Viard’s first couture show. The bespoke stunner was made especially for Robbie in white. “We referenced Lauren Hutton and Sharon Tate,” Young revealed. “The lightness and fluidity of the dress really did it for me.”
One of the constants in Robbie’s red carpet repertoire is, of course, Chanel. The actress is an ambassador for the brand.
She first wore the label to the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards in 2018, where she took home the award for best actress and best actress in a comedy for I, Tonya.
At the time, she said: “It was before our partnership had begun and I won, so that was a good look charm! Good things might happen when I wear Chanel!”
