A Bangor police officer was injured Wednesday after a brief standoff with an armed man at a homeless encampment.
Trevor Lyons, 37, of Bangor was arrested Wednesday morning on a criminal threatening charge and four outstanding warrants after Bangor police received a 911 call about a man brandishing a gun in a homeless encampment off of Valley Avenue, according to Bangor police Sgt. Jason McAmbley.
Officers found Lyons hiding behind a tree in the encampment and officers tried to arrest him after a brief standoff, McAmbley said. As officers attempted to arrest him, a struggle ensued that resulted in at least one officer getting injured.
Bangor police previously attempted to arrest Lyons at his Bangor residence on an outstanding warrant but Lyons appeared to be evading capture by hiding throughout the city, including in homeless encampments, according to McAmbley.
Lyons is being held at the Penobscot County Jail and will likely be charged with more crimes, McAmbley said.
