A closer look at their love! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have shared new details about their story — and never-before-seen photos — in their docuseries, Harry & Meghan.
“The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see, is our love story,” Meghan told The Cut in August 2022 while promoting the Netflix project. “I hope that is the sentiment that people feel when they see any of the content or the projects that we are working on. … When the media has shaped the story around you, it’s really nice to be able to tell your own story.”
The show focuses on the couple’s life in California with son Archie (born in 2019) and daughter Lilibet (born in 2021). The duo relocated to the United States in March 2020 after stepping down from their duties as senior royals.
A trailer for the series showed images not previously shared with the public. “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” Harry said in the clip.
The Duchess of Sussex added: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”
In the debut episode — which aired along with episodes 2 and 3 — Harry explained why he and Meghan wanted to make a docuseries.
“This is a great love story. And the craziest thing is that I think this love story is only just getting started. She sacrificed everything that she ever knew, the freedom that she had, to join me in my world, and then pretty soon after that I end up sacrificing everything that I know to join her in her world,” the England native explained.
The Duke of Sussex later revealed that he caught his first glimpse of the Suits alum on Instagram, when a friend posted a video of her.
“That was the first thing. I was like, ‘Who is that?’” he recalled.
After the pair’s mutual friend messaged Meghan on Harry’s behalf, the “Archetypes” podcaster did some social media stalking herself.
“That’s the thing. People say, ‘Did you Google him?’ No. That’s your homework. You’re like, ’Let me see what they’re about in their feed.’ Not what someone else says about them, but what they are putting out about themselves,” she explained. “That, to me, was the best barometer. So I went through and it was just, like, beautiful photography and all these environmental shots and this time he was spending in Africa.”
