Looking good as hell! Lizzo looked as perfect as a pearl at the 2023 Met Gala with a head-to-toe Chanel look.
The “About Damn Time” singer, 35, dazzled on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 1, in a custom black Chanel gown featuring a beaded pearl corset on top. The “Rumors singer” channeled this year’s theme of “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” by drawing inspiration from Chanel’s 1991/1992 fall/winter collection.
She complimented her gown with matching pearl earrings and black Chanel pumps and paid homage to Lagerfeld’s iconic fingerless gloves with her own bejeweled pair. To add even more drama to the getup, Lizzo rocked Chanel makeup, which included a soft eye and neutral lip, and wore her brunette locks up in a curly messy bun style.
The “Truth Hurts” singer is no stranger when it comes to a stellar Met Gala outfit. At the 2022 event, the Michigan native looked seriously stylish in a Thom Browne gown and cape. The black getup was finished with gold embroidery and cutouts on the frock. She teamed the glamorous number with a golden choker and flute, which she played on the red carpet. The “Scuse Me” artist sported dramatic eyelashes, subtle eyeshadow shades, maroon lipstick and a sharp contour for fashion’s biggest night.
In 2019, for the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme, Lizzo went above and beyond for her ensemble. The custom Marc Jacobs outfit featured an emerald waist pastel pink dress, fuchsia featured layer, and neon belt. The “Special” musician teamed the garb with a vibrant wig. The faux hair sparkled with rhinestones lining the updo and a matching headpiece.
For makeup that night, the “Worship” singer dazzled us with rosy eyeshadow, filled-in brows, long lashes, blushed cheeks and glossy lips.
In a July 2019 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the “Special” singer opened up about her unique fashion sense. “I am a bad b—h that takes risks and wears whatever she wants.” She continued, “I really love my team, my creative team — hair, makeup, styling. We get to just really play around. We love exploring with color, shapes, motifs, big ideas and jokes.”
Known for keeping things candid with her fans, Lizzo gave an honest review of her experience at last year’s Met Gala in a since-deleted Instagram Live video. “There’s a long f—king line,” she said of the red carpet, according to the Daily Mail. “I’m taking the glamour away from it, but it’s true. You’ve gotta wait. So you’re waiting and that’s the hardest part. I was sweating in a big-ass coat, my feet were hurting.”
She went on to note that servers were “being really stingy with the liquor” at the gala, stating, “He was like, ‘Red or white wine?’ And I was like, ‘Tequila! Do you know what I’ve been through? Do you know how many hours I’ve been in this corset? How long I’ve been in these damn shoes? Tequila!’”
The “Juice singer” also blamed photographers for messing up her flute performance on the red carpet, leading her to only perform the classical piece she had prepared once. “They were like, ‘You’re putting us to sleep with the flute!’ I was like, ‘Okay?’ In my mind, I thought everyone was going to be transfixed,” Lizzo claimed. “So I only played it once, only the first half of it. Then I posed and got the photos.”
