Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their first daughter, Princess Charlotte, on May 2, 2015.
The little one joined her older brother, Prince George, and he was “very excited” to meet his little sister, a source told Us Weekly exclusively at the time.
The insider added, “George was aware that he would soon have a new brother or sister and has been excited throughout the pregnancy. He might have been a little shy around the new baby, but everything went well. He’s great around other children. He’s a very curious boy.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales were “ready to take on the challenge” of two kids, the source went on to tell Us, explaining, “They are a lot more calm this time. When George was brought back after he was born, they were so nervous. But the second time, they feel relaxed and are able to take in and enjoy these first moments at home with the baby.”
George and Charlotte’s younger sibling, Prince Louis, arrived three years later. “Charlotte is really enjoying having a younger brother to play with,” a source told Us exclusively in May 2018. “She’s taking her big sister duties very seriously. She won’t leave baby Louis’ side. … Charlotte is protective, just like [George]. They have a great bond, and a similar connection is growing between Charlotte and Louis.”
The princess was a big fan of dancing and “definitely a girly-girl,” the insider said at the time, adding, “She’s very confident. She’s not afraid of a grazed knee and it’s not going to stop her from running around. She moves at the speed of light!”
As Charlotte has gotten older, she’s started to attend public outings with her family and has learned new subjects in school.
“Charlotte is sharp and bright as a button,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2022, noting that she is also interested in acrobatics and acting. “She is top of her class at reading. She actually enjoys doing homework. … Whenever she gets a chance, she’ll put on a performance!”
While her parents have taught Charlotte and her brothers about their societal positions, they have also remained humble and “graceful,” often treating their classmates “with kindness and as equals,” per the insider.
The royal kiddos have also become informed global citizens.
“[They] have been coming home asking all about [the Ukrainian conflict],” William said of his three children during a March 2022 appearance, referring to the Russian invasion in Europe. “They are obviously talking about it with their friends at school.”
