Country music is all about love! Whether high school sweethearts or second chances at love, these couples are in it for the long haul.
Superstars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have a love story for the ages — and their chemistry is still electric on stage after more than 20 years together. The twosome tied the knot in 1996 and went on to welcome daughters Gracie, Maggie and Audrey in 1997, 1998 and 2001, respectively.
While the musicians celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, McGraw looked back on his unconventional attempt to win over Hill — which wasn’t immediately successful.
“We had dated for a while. I actually asked her to marry me quite a few times and she kept saying no,” he noted via social media in October 2021. “She said, ‘I’m not going to get involved with another country singer, it’s just not going to work out.’”
The “Humble and Kind” singer, however, wasn’t going to give up easily. He took matters into his own hands during an outdoor concert.
“They had these trailer houses set up. I’m getting ready to go on stage, and I had this sort of case that had this big mirror in it. She’s standing there, and we’re talking, and I said, ‘Look, let’s get married,’” he recalled of his proposal. “And she says, ‘You’re asking me to marry you at a country music festival in a trailer house.’ And I said, ‘Well, it’s pretty apropos if you think about it.’ She goes, ‘Are you serious?’ And I said, ‘Well yeah, I’m serious.’”
When McGraw got back to his dressing room that night, he got the answer he wanted. “And it was the best day of my life, that’s for sure,” he said.
The 1883 costars have one of the sweetest romances in the books, but Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins constantly keep fans swooning in their own right. The childhood friends got married in 2012 and frequently showcase their life at home raising their four daughters: Willa, Ada, Lennon, and Lillie Carolina, the latter of whom was born in November 2021.
In August 2020, the former nurse told Us Weekly that the forced pandemic quarantine has been somewhat of a blessing for their family.
“Truthfully, as difficult as this quarantine has been for so many, we have really embraced the time as a family,” Akins said at the time. “We haven’t had this much time together in years.”
