A section of Acadia National Park’s loop road has reopened after undergoing emergency culvert repairs.
The stretch of the Park Loop Road between Kebo Street and Great Meadow in Bar Harbor was closed for two weeks to allow crews to replace two failed culverts, according to Amanda Pollock, a spokesperson for the park.
Those failed culverts contributed to flooding in Great Meadow and Sieur de Monts, Pollock said Wednesday.
While the repairs were ongoing, traffic was diverted from the 0.7-mile stretch of road onto Cromwell Harbor Road and then over to Route 3 before rejoining the loop road at the entrance to Sieur de Monts.
All traffic is now permitted back onto the road.
