The district attorney’s office dismissed sexual assault charges against a 36-year-old Union man last Thursday.
District Attorney Natasha Irving dropped the charges against Raymond Chang “in the interest of justice,” The Courier-Gazette reported. Irving declined to comment whether the victim agreed with the decision.
In the court affidavit, the victim claimed she was sexually assaulted multiple times between the ages of 12 and 14, according to the newspaper.
The victim reported Chang to the police in early April, and he was in May on multiple counts of felony unlawful sexual contact and misdemeanor unlawful sexual touching dating back to 2019.
Chang is a pastor at the Resurrection Church in Rockport and works at a Sweetser crisis unit, where he was placed on administrative leave after his arrest, according to the Courier-Gazette.
