Big Brother fans will have to wait a bit longer than usual for the reality competition show’s 25th season.
In May, CBS announced that Big Brother 25 would premiere about one month later than the show typically begins. The Hollywood Reporter reported at the time that the schedule shakeup was likely connected to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, noting that the delayed start date would give the network more original programming for the fall. The last time Big Brother premiered in August was in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic pushed back production for season 22.
Host Julie Chen Moonves, for her part, teased the upcoming season via social media. “1 MONTH AWAY #BB25,” she wrote via Twitter in July alongside a photo of a miniature Zingbot next to the nomination box.

What Is the Theme for ‘Big Brother 25’?
Chen Moonves has shared some hints via Instagram about this year’s theme.
“Do you see what I see ,” she captioned a July promo photo of her standing in front of the Big Brother logo. “So excited to reveal this #BB25 key art for you all. But we had to wait until the Houseguests were sequestered because there’s many clues to this season’s theme. Can you guess?” What appeared to be a green monster hand and a comic book-style sound effect bubble were visible in the background.
Fans have speculated that the hint could point to a theme based on the legendary Big Brother competition BB Comics or to a heroes vs. villains-style twist. Chen Moonves furthered the comics theory later that month when she shared a photo of herself in the Big Brother house sitting next to a cartoonish cake.
Who Is in the Cast for ‘Big Brother 25’?
The 16 contestants entering the Big Brother house this year were revealed on July 31. The full cast list includes two family members of Survivor alums — Zach Wurtenberger‘s (season 42) brother Cory Wurtenberger and Cirie Fields‘ (Panama, Micronesia, Heroes vs. Villains and Game Changers) son Jared Fields.
What Are the Twists for ‘Big Brother 25’?
Chen Moonves confirmed one of the season’s twists during an August 1, appearance on CBS Mornings. “This Big Brother multiverse is going to affect every competition. I mean, it’s the 25th season, we had to shake it up,” she said.
Big Brother alums Danielle Reyes (seasons 3 and 7), Brittany Haynes (seasons 12 and 14) and Frankie Grande (season 16) previously hinted at a timeline twist in a video shared exclusively with Us Weekly. In the clip, the trio broke into the house one week ahead of the season premiere to use a “time laser” to alter the outcomes of their seasons. However, something went wrong with their mission, unleashing some unintended consequences on the house.
