Since its debut in 2006, Top Chef has crowned a series of champions across the world — and shows no signs of slowing down.
Each season, the reality show auditions a series of chefs in a new location which serves as the theme. Typically, at least 12 chefs end up competing against one another to vying for the title of Top Chef.
The group competes in Quickfire Challenges in each episode and if they don’t impress the judges — Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons — they must face an Elimination Challenge in order to make it to the finals. The last three standing make a full-course meal and whoever has the best meal takes home the cash prize of $250,000.
Many of the shows’ winners have gone on to open their very own restaurants while others have ventured into the entertainment realm by guest judging — and even hosting — on the Bravo cooking show and even several Food Network series.
