A man allegedly crashed his car into the Portland International Jetport runway on Sunday morning.
George Gillmore, 33, was summoned for criminal trespass, leaving the scene of an accident, driving to endanger and aggravated criminal mischief. He may face federal charges and fines as well.
Gillmore’s car allegedly went through a fire gate near the jetport and he made his way onto the runway where the car was abandoned.
Police found that the vehicle also damaged the grass and then struck a fence.
Police contacted Gillmore, who was staying at the Embassy Suites in Portland. Gillmore allegedly refused to answer questions.
The runway was shut down for about 40 minutes after the abandoned car was found.
There were no delays or impacts on flights.
