An Augusta man, who is charged with murder, is now accused of witness tampering.
Tyon Shuron, 46, was arrested in February 2020 and charged him with the murder of 48-year-old Andrew Sherman of Richmond.
Sherman, who was killed on Sept. 29, 2019, was found dead inside his Richmond home on Kimball Street on Oct. 11, 2019.
Shuron is now being accused of witness tampering for allegedly exchanging notes in jail with then-co-defendant, Chanda Lilly, who was also awaiting trial, according to the Kennebec Journal.
Lilly later accepted a plea deal requiring her to testify against Shuron at his trial.
A judge then dropped the murder charge against Lilly, and she pleaded guilty to robbery as part of the plea deal.
This week, a judge rejected an attempt by Shuron’s lawyer to have the tampering charge dismissed and considered separately.
Shuron’s murder trial will begin with jury selection on Nov. 6.
