The Bangor Daily News is interested in hearing from people who live, work and visit downtown Bangor how the city’s homelessness crisis has affected their daily lives and routines.
We’ve previously reported on various facets of the city’s homelessness crisis, such as the city’s approach to helping people under the guidance of a federal crisis response team, how the city closed a sprawling encampment along Valley Avenue, and have spoken at length with people who are experiencing homelessness in Bangor.
Now we’re interested in hearing how local residents are affected by seeing people in crisis frequently.
For example, have you changed your commute to avoid a certain area of downtown? Are you feeling the effects of compassion fatigue from seeing people who are struggling every day? Do you have thoughts on what the city or local organizations should do to help people who are homeless, grappling with substance use disorder or have other mental health diagnoses?
