A missing Gorham woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a collision with a tractor-trailer in Lewiston.
Jean Robinson, 78, was pulled over in a gray 2014 Subaru Outback on the Maine Turnpike just before the southbound off-ramp at exit 80 about 2:35 a.m., according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Robinson then turned back into the travel lane and was struck broadside by a 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 63-year-old David Alicea of Nashua, New Hampshire, Moss said Wednesday morning.
Robinson died at the scene.
Alicea wasn’t injured.
Robinson, who suffered from cognitive impairment, was reported missing on Tuesday to the Gorham Police Department, which issued a Silver Alert for her.
Robinson was supposed to be traveling to Southwest Harbor, but never made it, according to Moss.
The crash remains under investigation.
