MMG Insurance of Presque Isle is pleased to announce its 30th annual Charity Golf Tournament raised $36,777 for the United Way of Aroostook.
This is the largest donation to the nonprofit ever generated from the event, and it brings the total raised for the United Way of Aroostook over the tournament’s 30-year history to more than $674,000.
“Our vision was to make the 30th year the best yet,” said Matt McHatten, president and CEO of MMG Insurance. “With a tremendous amount of hard work from employees and the generous support of our sponsors, donors, and golfers, we succeeded. The MMG community showed up to ensure that we could continue to contribute to the United Way’s important mission and help those in need in Northern Maine.”
All funds raised through the tournament will be distributed by the United Way to local agencies, directly benefiting the people of Aroostook County.
Sarah Duncan, executive director of the United Way of Aroostook, noted that MMG’s longtime support of the charity has made an important impact, not just in dollars raised but in modeling ways to give back and help take care of community members who are struggling.
“MMG’s commitment to host the MMG Charity Golf Tournament is just another example of their philanthropic values and commitment to fill the needs and solve the problems our friends, family, and neighbors are facing,” Duncan said. “We couldn’t reach the number of people we reach without their generous and continuous support.”
That support is slated to continue, as planning is already underway for next year’s tournament to be held on Sept. 7, 2024.
